Statement of Commitment

European Jewellery is committed to ensuring equal access and participation for people with disabilities. We are committed to treating people with disabilities in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence.

We believe in integration, and we are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner. We will do so by removing and preventing barriers to accessibility and by meeting our accessibility requirements under Ontario’s accessibility laws.

Statement of organizational commitment

European Jewellery is committed to ensuring equal access and participation for people with disabilities. Those with disabilities will be treated in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence. We will remove any barriers to accessibility which includes meeting all requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and Ontario’s accessibility laws.

Training

European Jewellery is committed to adequately training its staff on all accessibility laws as it relates to the Ontario Human Rights Code regarding persons with disabilities.

Information and communications

All communication by European Jewellery employees to people with disabilities will be done in ways that take into account their disability. When asked, European Jewellery will provide information about public safety in a format that is easily accessible.  

Employment

All employees, potential hires and the public will be notified that accommodations can be made during hiring.

Should an individual accommodation plan be necessary, European Jewellery will put a process for creating such a plan in place.

Emergency information will be accessible when needed to ensure an employee with a disability during an emergency has access to that information.

Multi-Year Plan

European Jewellery will go to all lengths necessary to prevent and remove barriers to accessibility. This includes fulfilling our commitment to maintain compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

Customer Service
  • European Jewellery has remained in compliance with the Customer Service Standard.
  • Customer feedback can be submitted via our website.
  • Any feedback received is immediately addressed by a member of our management team to analyze and implement changes to our policies and procedures that may be necessary.

Section Two: Strategies and Actions

Customer Service

European Jewellery is committed to providing accessible customer service to people with disabilities. This means that we will provide goods and services to people with disabilities with the same high quality and timeliness as others.

European Jewellery will train new and existing staff on the importance of providing exceptional customer service to everyone, without limiting such service to those with disabilities. European Jewellery staff will go above and beyond to ensure that those with disabilities feel comfortable when shopping and have adequate accessibility to all areas of the store.

By June 1, 2016 European Jewellery will re-evaluate its exchange policy deadline so ensure that those who are disabled have an adequate time frame to return to the store.

By June 1, 2016 European Jewellery will assess whether delivery options can be made available to those with disabilities to ensure they have access to our product in the most convenient format.

Information and Communications

European Jewellery is committed to making our information and communications accessible to people with disabilities.

European Jewellery plans to have all accessibility information available on its website by June 1, 2016. The accessibility information will be viewable in a legible format. European Jewellery will also make emergency exit information available to anyone upon request. 

By June 1, 2016, European Jewellery will have a customer comment tab available on our website to ensure that we receive all the necessary feedback we can on our compliance with the Regulation.

Employment

European Jewellery is committed to fair and accessible employment practices. European Jewellery will provide any and all accommodations for staff when necessary. This includes making our hiring practices and procedures available upon request.

Training

European Jewellery is committed to providing training on the requirements of Ontario’s accessibility laws and the Ontario Human Rights Code as it applies to people with disabilities.

European Jewellery has and will consistently update the requirements for compliance with the  Ontario Human Rights Code as it relates to people with disabilities in each of its stores and head office.

European Jewellery will conduct training sessions with every new employee that includes policies and procedures for compliance with the Ontario Human Rights Code as it relates to people with disabilities.

Design of Public Spaces

European Jewellery will meet accessibility laws when building or making major changes to public spaces.
